How to Train your Dragon

I just went to see the new Dreamworks movie, "How to train your Dragon," and it was amazing! The movie is based off a book by Cressida Cowell and is a fantastic story of Hiccup, the first viking who wouldn't kill a dragon. His village and Father were disappointed in his non-viking qualities, but despite all the animosity that surrounded him, he followed his heart and became the first viking to train and ride a dragon. Seriously, such a great movie. Yes, it's main audience is children but the story, 3D effects, and visuals were all brilliant, making it enjoyable for all ages. Anyway, check it out. I promise that you'll love it! :)

256 Bulletin Board

For my 256 experience, I created a bulletin board as a "gift" to my host school. Since the unit included the Sports Education Model for Volleyball at the middle school, I took the opportunity to write out the jobs, the rules, and the rotations so that the students could reference it. My host teachers loved the posters and ended up laminating them for future use... check it out...

I put a quick animoto video together of a few pictures from my PED201 field experience at St. Mary's, my EDU 256 experience at Niskayuna middle school, and some from being a lab assistant... All of the pictures bring back great memories from my experiences, and I can't wait to have more! Enjoy...

The Fun Theory

Here is a video I stumbled across recently... the theory behind it is that "the easiest way to change people's behavior for the better is by making it fun to do." This definitely applies to PE in that kids are more willing to be active if they are having fun...
